Services

Vaccine needs vary depending on your pet’s species, age, environment, and health history. We’ll recommend a personalized vaccination plan during your visit, whether your pet is a frisky kitten or a curious ferret.

Most adult pets should come in once a year for a checkup, while puppies and kittens need a series of wellness visits as they grow. Seniors, pets with chronic conditions, and exotic species may need more frequent care to stay comfortable and well.

Definitely. Indoor pets are still at risk for hidden illnesses, dental disease, and age-related issues. Routine exams help us catch subtle changes early, keeping your pet healthier and happier in the long run.

We’ll review prep instructions during your pet’s surgical consult. Typically, we ask that pets fast overnight, and you should let us know about any recent health changes or medications on the day of surgery.

Yes, we do. Our team has experience with rabbits, ferrets, and other small mammals, and we understand the unique care these animals require before, during, and after surgery.

While all surgical procedures carry some level of risk, we minimize those risks through individualized anesthetic protocols and close monitoring from start to finish.

Most routine surgeries—like spays, neuters, and lump removals—allow for same-day discharge. If your pet needs extended monitoring, we’ll keep you updated and help arrange the next steps.

Recovery depends on the surgery and the species. A spay may require a couple of weeks of limited activity, while orthopedic procedures may involve a longer healing process. We’ll provide a detailed plan and support your pet’s recovery all the way through.

Dental cleanings, X-rays, and extractions are available exclusively at our Ashburn location.

Most pets benefit from yearly dental cleanings. Some may need more frequent visits, especially small breeds, seniors, or pets prone to tartar buildup.

Yes. Anesthesia allows us to safely and thoroughly clean your pet’s teeth, especially under the gums, and to take X-rays without stress or movement.

It can be. Persistent odor is usually a sign of bacteria and may point to gingivitis or more advanced dental disease. If your pet’s breath has changed, let us know.

Definitely. Brushing your pet’s teeth a few times a week, using approved dental products, and sticking to a routine can go a long way. We’re happy to walk you through it.

We recommend at least one wellness visit per year, if not two, since these small pets age so quickly.

Yes. Dental overgrowth and malocclusion are common issues in rabbits and guinea pigs. Our veterinarians can perform dental trims and recommend dietary changes to help manage or prevent these problems.

Changes in appetite, weight loss, drooling, sneezing, lethargy, or hiding more than usual are all red flags. If you notice anything unusual, schedule a visit right away, since small pets can deteriorate quickly once symptoms appear.

Absolutely. We’ll review your pet’s enclosure, bedding, temperature, and diet, and provide recommendations to improve comfort and prevent health issues.

If your small pet is in distress or not eating, please contact us immediately. While we handle many urgent situations in-house, we can also guide you to a trusted emergency facility if needed.

Holistic treatments like acupuncture and herbal therapy are suitable for most dogs and cats. Dr. Grasso will assess your pet’s individual needs and medical history before recommending the most appropriate therapies.

Absolutely. In fact, the best results often come from a balanced blend of both. Holistic therapies can work alongside surgery, prescription medication, or physical rehabilitation to enhance comfort and recovery.

Some pets show improvement after just one or two sessions, while others benefit from ongoing treatments over several weeks. Results depend on your pet’s condition, overall health, and how their body responds to therapy.

Yes. When performed by a trained veterinarian like Dr. Grasso, holistic therapies are safe, gentle, and specifically tailored to your pet’s health and temperament.

Holistic care can be helpful for chronic pain, allergies, anxiety, mobility issues, or as supportive care for aging pets. It’s also an excellent preventive option for maintaining balance and wellness before problems arise.
